Feedback Unit 4-body image/nutrition
Hello Zeba
I enjoyed reading your page on older adults and food/nutrition. The web page is clearly titled and infographs and videos are very informative. The introduction addresses changing needs of older adult women and the food pyramid effectively reflects their age-appropriate nutritional requirements. The video regarding healthy eating in older adults is fabulous. I also liked the infographs regarding sexual differences in age related diseases. The fitness guidelines and associated video look great and hit the topic well. The protective factors are done very well and establish the relationship between resilience and social support and food/ nutrition.
However, the risk factors content does not seem to be linked to the topic of discussion which for this section was- “the triggers and pressures that can lead someone to have negative body image and disordered eating among women, and analyzing the relationships between food, body, and health across the lifespan”.
The risk factors info graph (The image illustrates an umbrella of protective factors and raindrops representing risk factors for mental health throughout life. Later in age, physical sickness and disability, inequity, loneliness, and loss all impact the quality of life. Kousoulis, Mental Health Foundation. 2021) with umbrella is fabuIous but I do not think it illustrates the topic at hand
And what about access to nutritional information and access to the food itself? What are the risk factors for poor nutrition – being alone, unable to drive or changing taste buds in older adults may make them not eat?? Check out this article on Syracuse University News: https://news.syr.edu/blog/2022/09/07/food-insecurity-has-worsened-for-the-elderly-and-women-living-alone/. What are ways to identify nutritional deficiency or food insecurity in older women and how to address them. I work in women’s pelvic health see a substantial portion of my older adult population suffers from chronic constipation a lot of it goes back to changing needs of a slowing gut?? Is there more research regarding fiber needs and foods that help an aging body function better? (just an example !!)
Line 3 has a grammatical error and in the Rodgers et al quote I think the in-text reference does not need to be in the quotation.
I hope this helps.
Thanks
